Decatur PTA Board

The PTA consists of the general membership lead by an Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

President
Serves as the primary point of contact between the PTA board, principal, and staff, conducts PTA meetings and oversees all PTA initiatives to ensure they align with the overall mission and vision of the school.

Vice President
Partners with the President and provides support for and oversight of PTA initiatives, typically transitions to President role the following year.

Treasurer
Maintains all financial accounts and records and provides monthly budget reports and projections at PTA meetings, collects and dispenses money for PTA functions and files tax forms.

Secretary
Maintains an accurate and permanent record of all PTA business conducted at meetings, takes minutes at PTA meetings and distributes them afterwards for board approval.

Communications Director
Directs PTA communications to keep the community informed of PTA events, opportunities, and needs, edits and sends the weekly Gator Gazette and maintains the PTA website.

Volunteer Coordinator
Recruits and acts as a liaison between volunteers, staff, and the PTA, assesses volunteer needs for PTA events and activities, assists with recruitment of room parents at the beginning of the year.

Fundraising Coordinator
Runs the Growing Gators Annual Fund in the fall and oversees fundraising initiatives throughout the year.

Legislative and Advocacy Director
Stays informed about national, state, and local PTA legislative concerns and reporting weekly on issues relevant to Decatur and the PTA.

Events Coordinator
recruits volunteers for PTA events and acts as a resource for Event Leads throughout the planning process.

Director of Equity and Inclusion
Leads diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and consults with school staff to ensure PTA initiatives align with the mission of creating an inclusive school community.
